Solutions Students will construct and test their own solar cookers as they collaborate with fellow solar cooker enthusiasts from other countries. They will create recipes, produce "infomercials", design website additions, and prepare informative booklets to educate other students about the environmental benefits of solar cooking in developing countries. A detailed description of the project can be viewed at: www.miamicountryday.org/aces. See the Solar Solutions group in action.....Solar2003 |

Country Day School Students featured in Short Documentary Rowena Gerber and her solar cooker team students have been featured in a short documentary film. Fifth grade student, Andy Lachler, lead the interviews at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City last spring at the Youth CaN Conference. Skip Blumberg, an Emmy Award winning videographer spent three days filming the MCDS students as they practiced, presented, demonstrated, and sang their ways into the hearts of the New York City audiences. Congratulations to the entire YouthCaN teachers and students for a job well done! We are so proud of you! Please note that the background of the entire video is enhanced by our students singing under the direction of Terry Alfonso. Please view this short film at the following address: http://www.myhero.com/myhero/go/filmfestival/viewfilm.asp?film=rowenagerber&res=highA special thank you to Jeanne Meyer, from My Hero, Skip Blumberg, the videographer, Terry Alfonso for the music instruction, and the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation. |
